It is crazy to look at the difference in the boys first bath pictures. Kenan is on the top and Easton on the bottom. They were both taken when they were each about 2 weeks old. Easton may be just a little older in the picture, but he sure is bigger. When I put him in the tub, I thought he would look small like Kenan and all balled up, but he actually looked like he fit.
Originally we started this blog to follow the life of our second child, but now it is a chronicle of our family's life.

4 Weeks Old
I can't believe a month has gone by already. Usually January seems like a long month, but because of Easton being born, it has flown. We are all adjusting to the new way of doing things with two kids instead of one(and on the days I babysit I have three kids with me). Last week Kenan started showing his jealous side by acting out to get attention. I was about to pull out my hair by the end of the week. He was getting into anything and everything when he knew I was busy with Easton and couldn't do much. This weekend and yesterday have been much better days thank God.
Easton got his first cold last week. I got sick again and this time the boys got it as well. Easton had to sleep in the car seat in our room a few nights because he could not sleep laying down. Last night was his first night back in his room and he did good again, about every 3 1/2 to 4 hrs. I am still okay with that since he is still only 4 weeks old.
Nick is in the middle of basketball season, so he is trying to spend time with the boys whenever he can. This past Saturday he did not have any basketball, so we went to the mall to play and then out to eat. Kenan is like his dad and loves eating out whenever we can.

Time home with Dad
Nick decided to take almost two additional weeks off from school after Christmas break was over. He took a little more than he normally would because he went to basketball about 2:30 every afternoon, and if he had a game he was gone until 10:00 or after. Even though he wasn't home with us the entire time, we enjoyed our time together as a family.
Easton had his week old appt. and weighed a whopping 8 lbs 13 oz. The doctor said he was definitely doing good and getting plenty to eat. I can't wait to see what he will be at by time we go to our 2 mnth appt. On Friday I took the boys to Easton's 1st basketball game. He did great considering he slept the whole time. It is a little bit more challenging getting us all into the building, especially in this cold. The next week Nick was off we went to storytime at the library and then met Nick's parents at Chuck e Cheese. Easton even went on the big rocking horse with Kenan while we are there. Kenan loves doing things with him.
I also started back with coaching drama this week as well as watching Isabelle on Friday. It hasn't been too difficult getting back into the swing of things, I just have to manage time a little bit differently. I know some days will definitely be more hectic than others. I am just glad that Easton has been having pretty good nights. Right now he has been getting up between 3 and 4 hrs. This seems great to me considering Kenan was 2-2 1/2 hrs and didn't even seem comfortable during the in between times. I know this is the difference between a preterm and full term baby. There have been more noticeable differences than I thought there would be.

One Week Old
It is hard to believe that Easton is already one week old. Kenan has been so good with him. I know that may change soon, but for right now it is cute to watch. He will go up to him just randomly and give him a kiss and say "I love you Easton." He is also very protective of him already. So far, the biggest change we have noticed is the time it takes to get them both ready to go somewhere. We haven't done that much yet, but we like to stay on the go, so we will have to learn to get quicker. Easton's sleep habits are still a bit switched, but he is not doing too bad. Hopefully he just keeps getting better instead of digressing. Easton started off the new year meeting the small group on New Year's day. We had planned to get together, and since we were already home we just kept things the way they were. I enjoyed seeing all of the new additions to our families in the year 2008.
My recovery from pregnancy has been really good, but my own personal health has not. I was coming down with a cold when Easton was born, and it just seemed to get worse. I still have not kicked it. To top off things, Saturday night I went to bed to wake up shortly after with the stomach virus. I seem to be recovered from that, I just hope that Easton does not get any of what I have had. I will say that this time around I almost miss being pregnant. Not necessarily the physical changes of it, because I definitely was ready to be comfortable again, but the emotions of it. Now that I know from Kenan just how fast they grow up, I'm not ready for that to happen to Easton, and if you are still pregnant they are not growing up yet(at least not out of the womb). Also, I just love my labor days. I know people may think that I am crazy(and getting an epidural about halfway through usually helps) but the days my boys have been born have been two of the most exciting and memorable days in my life. I miss them when they are over. They have also been special days between me and my husband. I am so thankful for the family God has blessed us with.

Last Day: Leaving the Hospital 12/31/08
Today was a nice quiet day getting everything together to leave the hospital. Easton had his pictures taken in the morning and he and I both got the clear to leave. The doctor said he was doing so well he hardly even lost any weight. He went from 8 lbs 5 oz to 8 lbs 1 oz. Around 12:30 my dad brought Kenan in to have lunch with us, and then he was going to get to take Easton home with us. I was glad to have the whole family together for a little bit before we left. Around 3:00 we were finally able to leave the hospital. It took forever because they were ready and then Easton had to eat, and then we were ready and they were not. AHH!! Well, I am just glad we get to ring in the new year with the whole family.
